All Dog Harnesses

Putting on your Lucy & Co. Reversible or No-Pull Harness takes about ten seconds. Loosen the straps, slip the neck opening over your dog's head, then buckle the strap that sits behind the front legs around the chest. Adjust the neck (No-Pull Harnesses only) and chest straps (On both the No-Pull and the Reversible) until they're snug but comfortable (two fingers should fit underneath), and clip your leash to the D-ring. On the No-Pull Harness, use the front chest clip for no-pull training walks and the back clip for relaxed ones. Watch the video.

Grab a soft measuring tape and find two numbers: your dog's chest girth (the widest part of the ribcage, just behind the front legs) and their neck. Measure snugly, then compare against the size chart on the product page before ordering, our harnesses run XS to XL. If your pup falls between sizes, or has a deep chest or a narrow head, size up and use the adjustable straps to dial in the fit.

We offer two different harness styles. Our signature reversible harness features two looks in one harness, and are easily reversed to the other side for a whole new look! The Lucy & Co. reversible harnesses have a back clip for the leash and an adjustable chest strap. Our No-Pull harnesses come in both solid colors, materials like corduroy and denim, and also printed neoprene styles. The Lucy & Co. no-pull harness features both an adjustable neck strap and chest strap for ultimate comfortability, particularly for dogs that have either a narrow or bigger head (hello, puggles!) and a deep chest. Use either the front clip for the no-pull functionality or the back clip for pups that don’t need the extra support.

Once you've measured, match your dog's chest to our size chart, that's the number that matters most for a secure fit. If they land between two sizes, we recommend sizing up: both our Reversible and No-Pull harnesses have adjustable chest straps, so a slightly larger size can be tightened down, but a too-small one can't be loosened.

A Lucy & Co. harness should fit snug but never tight. You should be able to slide two fingers between the strap and your dog's body, enough for them to move freely, not enough to slip out or twist. The neck and chest straps are fully adjustable on our no-pull styles, so you can fine-tune as your pup grows or bulks up their winter coat. Our reversible styles feature an  adjustable chest strap. If the harness shifts side to side while walking, tighten the chest strap a notch.

For most dogs, yes, especially walkers who pull. A harness spreads leash pressure across the chest and shoulders instead of concentrating it on the neck, which matters a lot for small breeds like Yorkies, Pomeranians, Dachshunds, and Chihuahuas. Some flat-faced dogs like Pugs, Frenchies, and Bulldogs, or any pup still learning leash manners, can also really benefit from a harness for walks. Either way, we design both a collar and a harness, so here's our honest take: use a harness for walks and pulling control, and keep a collar on for everyday ID and tags. A back-clip harness has one leash ring on your dog's back, easy to attach and comfortable for relaxed, no-fuss walks. A front-clip harness has a ring at the chest, which gently redirects your dog toward you when they pull, giving you more steering control. The good news: you don't have to choose. Our No-Pull Harness has both a front clip and a back clip and adjustable neck and chest straps for the perfect fit. Use the front clip for training and busy streets, and the back clip once your pup is walking calmly. (Our Reversible Harness is back-clip only, built for style and comfort.)

Both are made from our signature water-resistant neoprene,  the difference is what they're built for. The Reversible Harness flips between two prints and clips at the back; it's perfect for easy walkers who like to switch up their style with minimal effort. The No-Pull Harness adds a front chest clip, fully adjustable neck and chest straps, extra padding, and breathable interior mesh for pups who need additional support. No-pull styles are the better pick for dogs that pull or are still leash training. Style-forward and easygoing? Reversible. Working on pulling? No-Pull.

It'll work, but it's not the best tool for the job. The Reversible Harness is a back-clip design, so it won't discourage pulling the way a front clip does. If your dog leans into the leash, we'd steer you toward our No-Pull Harness instead. The front chest clip and fully adjustable neck and chest straps give you real control and make leash training easier. Save the Reversible for the days your pup walks like a pro.

We recommend keeping your harness fresh with a gentle hand wash: cold water, a little mild soap, then air dry. Because the neoprene is water-resistant and easy to care for, most everyday messes wipe right off with a damp cloth. We'd skip the dryer to protect the shape, padding, and hardware over the long haul.

Cleaning your Lucy & Co. neoprene harness is easy. Wipe it down with a damp cloth for everyday dirt, or hand wash in cold water with a little mild soap for a deeper clean. Rinse well and air dry away from direct heat. Because the neoprene is water-resistant, it dries quickly and shrugs off most everyday odors, so it's ready for the next adventure. A couple of things to avoid: cigarette smoke can absorb into neoprene and be very hard to remove, so keep it out of smoky spaces and skip harsh detergents, bleach, and the dryer.

With normal wear, a Lucy & Co. harness is built to last for years. We construct ours from durable, water-resistant neoprene with reinforced stitching and quality hardware, so they hold up to daily walks, dirt, and the occasional puddle dive. Longevity also comes down to fit and care. A well-adjusted harness that's cleaned now and then and air-dried will outlast one that's crammed on or tossed in the dryer. And when your pup finally sizes up, the build on their old one will still be going strong.
